Balanced BreakFEST 2019 Post Show Recap

On September 19th, 20th, 21st, and 22nd Balanced Breakfast presented BreakFEST, the second annual SF music festival in the Mission. It featured a variety of local and touring bands and was the ultimate example of community in the music industry.

Thursday Happy Hour opened up the festival with Dillingers, Manos Lindas, Esha K., Leon Rosen, The Minnesota Child, MAAYAN, and headliner Ellisa Sun from San Francisco. We reset the stage, shifted into the evening in order to welcome Adam BrookesKingsley from Portland, and Sam Johnson from San Francisco to the stage. Each night featured DJ Reed Fox & Bun Bun from Denver who were literally the icing on the cake. They served up some late-night hits as well as some silly hijinks filled original jams.

Friday we kept the energy going with Happy Hour at 6, featuring Samantha Margret, frinj, Byron Mayhew, Justin Seagrave, Lisa Azzolino, Shaynie Rhoads, and headlining band California State Flower from San Francisco. The night time shows started strong with East Bay band Fellow Vessel and HATE DRUGS from Bakersfield followed by Your Fearless Leader from San Francisco.

Saturday was the peak of the event and things got busy when Eve Fleishman Music, Michael Bang, Lauren Hulbert, Clementine Darling, Werwisp, Martay hit the stage. Momentum didn’t stop after the singers in the round because ScruffyPup from San Francisco had a lot of energy to showcase this evening. Those that came to Amnesia to dance were in for a treat with upbeat sounds from Great Highway, a mosh pit for Life Size Models, and some turnt up headbanging from Kyna, lead singer of The Go Ahead from San Francisco.

Sunday as the went down in San Francisco, local singer-songwriters Adrian West Band, Aliza Hava Music, Ken Newman, Shelby Ann, Seth Lael, and Little Spiral had some sweet tunes for Amnesia’s audience. Six piece band Trace Repeat out Oakland warmed up the stage with some Michael Jackson inspired sounds and James Brown energy. Amnesia’s stage wasn’t big enough to hold Californicorns, with 10 members, it literally wasn’t big enough. Up to the challenge The Urban Renewal Project Los Angeles brought 11 people to the stage … it flowed down the stairs and into the audience. Finally, the night wouldn’t have been complete without Night Animals.

Never been to Amnesia? They are a cozy (small) live music & craft beer venue in the Mission neighborhood of  San Francisco. We owe a big thanks to them as well as our sponsors Music City SF, Mission Cannabis, Pop-up Potcorn, Bandago, Teeth, Fingersnaps Media Art, Highbrew Coffee, ARC Law Group, Musician’s BASS, and Blanket The Homeless.

Like the Music featured in our recap video? Check out San Francisco artist Adam Brookes from Dangermaker who is bringing a more electronic feel than we’ve heard from the singer-songwriter before. http://adam-brookes.com
