If you ever wanted to see a show that spanned forty years of recorded music and dropped you off squarely in 1999, we’ll today’s your lucky day. Rather, I should say tonight’s your lucky night.
Because at San Francisco’s El Rio, a one-off Halloween cover show spooktacular is going down. Bear Lincoln performs Michael Jackson’s Thriller. Friends W/O Benefits (recently adored in The Bay Bridged) performs Blink-182’s Enema of The State. Turtle Rising performs as Tom Waits. And Babewatch throws down a positively groovy Zombie Surf Halloween Set.
Four bands, four decades, four different time machines, all for a $7-10 cover. More info & RSVP here: https://www.facebook.com/events/733785140040006/
So if you’ve never shaken it to a live version of “Beat It,” or yelled out the words “Nobody Likes You When You’re 23” as they spit back in your face, or how-how-howwwwllled along to “Rain Dogs,” or done the aqua boogie to a 50/50 split between Dick Dale and the Ventures as they melted your face with saucy guitar grooves…
If you’ve never done any of those things, well then tonight’s your lucky night.
Bear Lincoln, Friends W/O Benefits, Babewatch, and Turtle Rising at El Rio. 8:30pm.
