Get To Know Beautiful Machines

I just listened to the 2014 release Diconnect::Reconnect from start to finish twice. The first time I simply lost myself. The second time I became mesmerized by the intricacies of their artistic flight. Don’t waste your time getting a sense of this band on your cell phone speakers or you will miss all the nuances and mistake them for electro-pop. The attention to detail is impressive and best witnessed live so don’t miss them tonight at Balanced Breakfast Presents: September 11th Residency at Neck of The Woods.

“Beautiful Machines is, at its core, a band to see live, wanting to create biofeedback with the audience for an amazing experience. Each show is unique and features a progressive light show, dancers, lasers, visuals, costumes, pageantry, interactive elements, and audience engagement. The band takes on a modern futurist aesthetic, fused with their admiration for sci-fi elements, technology, philosophy, and the individual creative mind.” – http://www.beautifulmachinesmusic.com

The band members are unapologetically expressive. Conrad Schuman, the rathe lead singer, and guitarist arranges complex musical sections and sneaks in divine pop melodies that flow kinesthetically from subject to subject in finely orchestrated dance kismet. Veli-Matti Matilla blacksmiths samples jubilantly on hand-built electronic drum kits. Stef Ku, the keyboardist, is an “avant guarde soundscapist” and “professional sound healer”. Van Spragins, a progressive bass player, has toured with Dale Bozzio and Paula Cole.
