CONCERT CALENDAR: THIS WEEKEND ~ More shows than you can wag a finger at!

Not one, not two not three, not four not five but six shows worth seeing this weekend!

That’s right! But my count, there are 6 great shows in 3 short days coming up Bay Area! And undoubtedly there are several others I’ve missed. So what’re you waiting for! Let’s talk shows!

With this wide variety of genres, you will surely find something out there that tickles even your least musical of bones.

Let me explain.

Friday, July 11th

Travis Hayes, Before the Brave, Trebuchet, and Christian Lee Hutson at Bottom of The Hill

Genre: folk, singer/songwriter, alt-country, acoustic

Travis Hayes has released his new record this week, and Bottom of The Hill is lucky enough to host his local bay area cd release show (he leaves shortly on a Pacific Northwest Tour).

But don’t just take my word for it! The Bay Bridged premiered his new record and they had some fabulous things to say about Young Daze.

Saturday July 12th

Katie Garibaldi, Mike Annuzzi, and The Devil’s Chord at Neck of The Woods

Genre: country/folk/rock, blues, acoustic

In the Richmond: Katie Garibaldi is throwing her cd release bash at the Neck of The Woods and she’ll be joined by the fabulous Magik Magik Orchestra on stage. Opening up the night will be Mike Annuzzi and The Devil’s Chord. Here Katie is talking about her new record:

Saturday, July 12th

Guy Fox, Waterstrider, and Yassou Benedict at Slims

Genre: Indie rock/afro-beat

In SOMA: High-life indie rock group Guy Fox is playing their biggest headlining show to date alongside Bay Area favorites Waterstrider and Yassou Benedict at Slims on Saturday. Jam out to their new single Night Owl below:

Saturday, July 12th

Steep Ravine, Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys, & Desiree Wattis

Genre: Bluegrass

In Berkeley: Hankering for some bluegrass? Steep Ravine is one of the finest groups of that ilk in the Bay. They’ll be at Berkeley’s finest venue The Starry Plough with Lindsay Lou & the Flatbellys & Desiree Wattis (of Wildwood).

Saturday, July 12th

Odd Owl, The Senators, Cave Clove, Lauren O’Connell at Bottom Of The Hill

Genre: Pop/indie/folk

Yes indeed, Bottom of The Hill has put together another great lineup this weekend too.  Odd Owl just had a nice write-up in SF-Gate, which aptly describes their complex yet accessible music. Additionally, check out the Senators below (watch out for that heavy drum/percussion/horn breakdown at the 3/4ths mark – way cool):

Saturday, July 13th

DMC (of Run DMC), The Oakland Mind, Jay Stone & Them Hellas at Neck of The Woods

Genre: Hip/Hop

East Bay collective The Oakland Mind will be opening up for the legendary DMC at Neck of The Woods on Sunday night. This is a huge accomplishment for the local Bay Area group (and they’ll be unstoppable on stage). This is not a show to be missed.

So there you have it. Pick your neighborhood, pick your day, pick your genre, and enjoy some great live music this weekend. Ya won’t regret it!
